POSITION: VP/Director of Engineering and Product Development (title depends upon experience.) Company needs a proven, hands-on technical leader to manage and grow its development team while driving innovation and best practices.  Must be a leader and manager, able to recruit first-rate talent and tightly coordinate their efforts. Initially, you will only have about a dozen people reporting to you.  Need someone who can build and lead a world class engineering team.

LOCATION:  This position will be headquartered in New York City.  Board is willing to relocate the right candidate.   But, working remotely is not an option.

COMPENSATION:  Board is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate.  The focus is on hiring the best candidate.  This is a key position.  Compensation includes base, bonus, stock options, 401k and full benefits package.

MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: This position reports directly to the CTO.  He will only hire someone who is a team player and does not need to be micromanaged.  Basically, he prefers to agree to a set of objectives making sure that the objectives are clearly outlined and understood by the individual, then let the individual execute the plan.  But, he expects the individual to keep him informed of progress.  Individual must be able to go to the CTO when in need of help.  He wants people with new ideas and strong opinions, but able to move in a fast paced, ever-changing start up environment. He needs someone that can hit the ground running. Corporate culture is very team oriented and results focused.  There is a lot of open communication, transparency and exchange of new ideas.  The CEO’s goal is to make sure everyone feels like he/she is an owner. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have held a position within last 12 months as Vice President/Director of Engineering and/or Product Development (or equivalent) at a SaaS company where you were responsible for delivering a 24/7 product that has uptime SLAs of 99.999%, regular on time releases, and the ability to support hundreds of business users and processes and billions transactions.

• Must have significant experience in all aspects of multi-tier, object-oriented, multi-threaded java development including grid computing.

• Must be able to review code.  Need someone with hands-on experience with Java 2, AJAX, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Spring, Hibernate, MySQL, Unix/Linux, and Map Reduce (Hadoop or GridGain).

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent experience needed.  Masters a plus. Board is more focused on hiring someone who is very smart, gifted and innovative.
