Razorfish’s annual report on a survey of 1,000 “connected consumers” online is always an interesting reference. (Plus, it’s got a cool design.) The goal is to not to get a snapshot of the overall online population, but of the relevant consumers to brand marketers – those who:
- have broadband
- spent $150 online in the previous 6 months
- visit community/social media sites
- consume digital media
Some interesting facts emerge – 25% follow a brand on Twitter and 40% are fans on Facebook of a brand, for example. (Reminder – the survey was conducted in August of 2009) The bottom line is that the data says digital drives sales.
