All In The Family: AOL, Bonnier’s Parenting Group Form Ad, Content Alliance

AOL (NYSE: AOL) may have recently had a high-profile rap on the knuckles from a shareholder not pleased with the company’s direction, but it has continued to forge ahead with its strategy to find innovative ways of growing the reach of its advertising network and traffic on its own content sites. The latest: a deal with the publisher Bonnier’s Parenting Group to sell ad inventory and promote content from Parenting.com, in a bid to bring more moms to the AOL table.

News Corp./Time Warner’s Prince Alwaleed Invests $300 Million In Twitter

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud of Saudi Arabia, an investor in media titans News Corp. (NSDQ: NWS) and Time Warner (NYSE: TWX), is turning his attention now to social media: he and his investment group, Kingdom Holding Company, today became the latest investors in Twitter, putting up $300 million for a strategic stake in the micro-bloging company.

AOL Arrests Revenue Declines As Global Display Remains Up

AOL (NYSE: AOL) certainly went into Q3 with lowered expectations and it appeared to have beaten those benchmarks, as global display advertising grew for the third consecutive quarter and total revenues were down only 6 percent, the smallest decline in five years.

Ex-MSLO Exec Janet Balis Returns To Chart AOL Ad Sales Strategy

AOL (NYSE: AOL) is bringing back former ad sales development head Janet Balis to lead sales strategy, marketing and partnerships for the company’s advertising unit. She will report to Ned Brody, chief revenue officer. This is Brody’s first major ad sales hire since taking on the CRO role in July, amid the ouster AOL Global Ad Sales Chief Jeff Levick, who has since signed on as Spotify’s ad sales head.
